FROM COX’S BAZAR: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged Myanmar government to take back soon the Rohingyas who were forcibly displaced to Bangladesh.
She made the call while distributing relief goods among Rohingya refugees at Moynarghona camp in Cox’s Bazar on Monday (Oct 30).
Khaleda said, “Bangladesh is a small and poor country. We have sheltered the Rohingyas, who fled in Bangladesh following persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, on humanitarian ground. Many NGOs have also come forward to help them. However, it is not possible for us to keep them here forever.”
Finally the BNP chief urged Myanmar for repatriation of their citizens as early as possible.
Earlier on Saturday morning (Oct 28), Khaleda Zia headed from her Gulshan residence in Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar to visit the sheltered Rohingyas and distribute relief materials among them.
