DHAKA: Ruling Awami League led-14 party-alliance has accused BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia of lying about Rohingya issue and delivering false statement against the government.
The alliance spokesperson and Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim raised the allegation at a press conference following a meeting of the 14-party alliance held at Awami League president’s Dhanmondi office in the city on Thursday (November 02).
Nasim, also Health and Family Welfare Minister, said Khaleda Zia’s allegation that ‘the government did not do anything to resolve crisis’ in untrue. The 14-party alliance rejected her allegation, he said.
He also criticized Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi for playing double-standard policy over the Rohingya issue.
The minister rejected the allegation of Suu Kyi’s office spokesperson who blamed Bangladesh for making delay over repatriation of Rohingya refugees.
Workers’ Party leader Rashed Khan Menon, Samyabadi Dal leader Dilip Barua and Jatiya Party (JP) secretary general Sheikh Shahidul Islam also attended the press conference, among others.
