DHAKA: Prime Minister’s political adviser HT Imam said that he never considered Major Ziaur Rahman a freedom fighter, nor he would do in the future.  

HT Imam, also Awami League Advisory Council member, made the comment while speaking as special guest at a memorial meeting organized on the occasion of 'Freedom Fighters and Soldiers Killing.’  

‘Major Khaled Musharraf Smriti Parishad’ organized the meeting at the National Press Club on Tuesday (November 7).

HT Imam said, “General Osmani wanted to dismiss Ziaur Rahman from the army, it would have been better if he did it. Later, Zia came into power by his (Osmani) grace and causes a big loss for us.”
 
“Ziaur Rahman didn’t participate in any operation. All his operations were conducted by Colonel Taher. Zia would have changed National Flag and National Anthem, if he could come into power again.” 

Major General Khaled Mosharraf's wife Salma Khaled presided over the meeting while freedom fighter Captain (retd) Sachin Karmakar, Khaled Mosharraf's daughter MP Mahzabin Khaled spoke in the function, among others.
