SYLHET: An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, was killed out of previous enmity at Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet on Saturday (November 25).
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 28, son of late Siraj Uddin of Supatola village under Beanibazar municipality. Anwar is also younger brother of France Awami League general secretary Ali Hossain.
Local sources said, a miscreant stabbed Anwar on the left side of his chest at around 12:00 pm and fled away from Mokam Masjid road area of the municipality.
Locals rescued him and send to the Beanibazar Upazila Health Complex. The doctors declared him dead.
The agitating people torched tires on road following the incident. They demanded arrest of the killer.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Beanibazar Police Station Shahjalal Munshi told Banglanews that they are working to tame the tensed situation.
Meanwhile, two suspects have been detained over the incident.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Russell Ahmed of Kosva area stabbed Anwar and fled from the scene, the OC said.
Actions will be taken after investigation, the OC added.
