BOGRA: Detectives, in a joint drive, detained the chief for the Southern regions of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Nandigram upazila of Bogra early Saturday (December 30).

He was identified as Abu Sayeed alias Karim alias Talha alias Shyamol.   

Bogra district media cell officer Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanatan Chakrabarty told Banglanews that detectives from Bogra district police and Police Headquarters jointly conducted a drive in Omar area of Nandigram and nabbed Sayeed, at around 1:00am.

A 9mm pistol, a magazine, eight bullets, a knife and an unregistered motorcycle were seized from his possession.

Sayeed is a member of Majlish-e-Sura committee of JMB and its unit chief for Bangladesh’s Southern regions. He was listed on Indian law enforcers’ most-wanted list, said the ASP.
