DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that his party will investigate if anyone uses their party symbol-boat before the party’s decision.  

He made the comment while talking to reporters after visiting Mohammadpur BRTC Depot at 4:00 pm on Saturday (December 30).

Obaidul Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said that there is no scope for using the party symbol- boat before nomination is given by the party in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) elections.

Atiqul Islam, former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has been campaigning for DNCC election, claiming himself as a candidate of Awami League under boat symbol.  

Obaidul Quadersaid, “There is no room for creating confusion in Awami League, even in the case of union chairman, the party nomination board makes decision.”

“Our nomination board will give candidates. The decision will be made after declaration of schedule. Some might have put up banner using boat symbol. We will investigate,” he said.
