Khaleda, 54 BNP-Jamaat men face arrest warrant in Comilla

COMILLA: A Comilla court issued arrest warrant against 55 BNP-Jamaat men including BNP Chief Khaleda Zia and Jamaat-e-islami central executive committee member Abdullah Mohammad Taher. 

Comilla Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Joynab Begum issued the warrant on Tuesday (Dec 2).

Comilla court PP advocate Mostafizur Rahman Liton said Chauddagram police station sub-inspector (SI) Nuruzzaman Hawladar filed a case against 56 BNP-Jamaat men, and 15-20 other unidentified men for throwing a petrol bomb on a Dhaka-bound Icon Paribahan bus and killing 8 people during strike on February 3 in 2015.

BNP chief Khaleda Zia was accused for leading the attack. On March 6, police submitted charge-sheet against 78 people after investigation. Three more people died during the trial. 

Court issued the arrest warrant against 55 people as the accused including Khaleda Zia did not appear before it. However, 20 accused were appeared before court.
