SYLHET: Three people were shot in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Sylhet MC College on Thursday noon (Jan 4).

Two of the bullet-hit men were identified as Akhter Hossain and Abul Hasan.

Followers of Awami League leader advocate Ranjit Sarker and another AL leader Azadur Rahman clashed around 1:30pm on Thursday. 

Locals said Ranjit group BCL men took stand at MC college campus to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of BCL. The clash broke put when members of Azad group tried to enter the college campus. The injured men were taken to hospital. 

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Shah Paran police station officer-in-charge (OC) Akhter Hossain told Banglanews that on information police rushed to the spot and fired 40 rounds of blank shotgun shots to take control of the situation.
