BNP denied permission of Jan 5 rally at Paltan

DHAKA: BNP was denied permission for holding a rally at Paltan area on Friday (January 5).

Earlier, BNP sought permission for holding rally at Suhrawardy Udyan but denied. Later they sought permission to hold that rally at Paltan but Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) denied it on Thursday (January 04).

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shibli Noman of Motijheel told Banglanews that there is no scope to hold rallies at Paltan area. It is not possible to hold rally on the road. The road belongs to the City Corporation. We can’t give permission.

Earlier on Monday (January 1), BNP asked DMP to give permission for a rally to hold at Suhrawardy Udyan.

However, DMP rejected BNP’s request as it had allowed United Islamic Party-an Islamic party to hold a rally at the same venue on that day.
