KUSHTIA: The local administration has imposed Section 144 at Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia as the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League, and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) called a rally on the same venue and same time.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Kumarkhali Md Shahinuzzaman on Saturday (January 20) imposed the Section 144 from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Additional members of police were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

The upazila unit of JSD called a rally at Gorai Complex in the upazila headquarters at noon protesting the attack of BCL men on a JSD leader. On the other hand, the BCL called a separate rally on the same venue and the same time.
