Liverpool stormed to their 20th English top-flight title on Sunday, thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 in a commanding display at Anfield that matched Manchester United’s long-standing record.

Needing just a point to secure the Premier League crown with four games to spare, Liverpool faced an early scare when former Red Dominic Solanke headed Spurs into a 12th-minute lead. 

However, the celebration was short-lived. Luis Diaz restored parity minutes later, tapping in from Dominik Szoboszlai’s low cross — a goal confirmed after a VAR review overturned an offside call.

The momentum firmly swung Liverpool’s way as Alexis Mac Allister unleashed a stunning left-footed strike to put the hosts ahead, capitalizing on Tottenham’s costly error while playing out from the back. 

Cody Gakpo then made it 3-1 before halftime, ensuring Liverpool’s supporters could start the celebrations early.

The second half was a procession. Mohamed Salah, ending a six-game goal drought, fired home a low shot past Guglielmo Vicario in the 63rd minute, marking his 28th league goal of a remarkable season. 

In a joyous moment, Salah even snapped a selfie with a fan after scoring.

Under the guidance of Dutch manager Arne Slot — now only the fifth coach to win the Premier League in his debut season — Liverpool have amassed 82 points from 34 matches, leaving second-placed Arsenal far behind on 67.

Unlike their 2020 triumph, which was played out behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions, this title was celebrated in a packed, jubilant Anfield. 

Tottenham, sitting 16th and rotating heavily ahead of their Europa League semifinal, briefly unsettled the Kop, but Liverpool’s class soon shone through, delivering a title party that fans will remember for years to come.
