DHAKA: Bangladesh emerging squad cricketers were returning to Dhaka after leveling the series against Sri Lanka Emerging Team with a superb victory. But the joy of that win was foiled as three of the young Tigers suffered injuries in a road accident.
Young wicketkeeper-batsman Zakir Hasan has survived a major accident. Bangladesh Emerging Squad's cricketers returned to Dhaka after their match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday (August 21). Two other young cricketers were injured in the accident.
While returning from Dhaka from Savar BKSP, a passenger bus collided head-on with the bus carrying the cricketers in front of Jahangirnagar University. The injured were then taken to a local hospital. The cricketers have returned to BCB Academy after receiving first aid.
Sylhet's young star Zakir suffered head injury while Pacer Mehdi Hasan Rana was injured in chest and Manik Khan in the leg.
However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said there was no reason to worry.
Bangladesh Emerging Team have won at the 2nd unofficial ODI against Sri Lanka Emerging Team by 2 wickets with 3 balls remaining at Savar on August 21.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka set Bangladesh 274-run target in their stipulated 50 overs.
