The University Grants Commission (UGC) today (Jan 19) limited on admission of new students to four universities as the institutions failed to shift to their permanent campus.

UGC issued a notification in this regard. 

The universities are: Prime Asia University, Stamford University Bangladesh, Asha University, and Victoria University, said the notification.

The notification said the enrolment of new students has been limited for these universities as they failed to show any progress in constructing a permanent campus within the given time, and failed to transfer all activities to a permanent campus.

Besides, UGC decided that State University and Manarat International University can only enrol new students on their permanent campus, and not on their temporary campus, read the notification.

Meanwhile, six universities were given till March 31 to completely transfer all academic activities to the permanent campus as they were able to show visible progress in constructing their campuses.

They are: Dhaka International University, Royal University, Southeast University, City University, The Millennium University, and Bangladesh University.

The also notification stated that, enrolment of new students into any programmes for these universities will also be stopped if they fail to shift to their permanent campus by April 1. 

At the same time, following visible progress in constructing a permanent campus and written commitment regarding shifting all programmes, six more universities were given time till June 30.

They are -- Brac University, University of Development Alternative, Green University, Uttara University, Presidency University, and The People's University of Bangladesh.

They will face similar restrictions if they fail to shift all activities to a permanent campus by July 1.
