Bashundhara Group stands by 11 students who got chance in medical colleges

Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country, has provided assistance to 11 meritorious students who got the opportunity to get enrolled at medical colleges this year. 

Shuvasangha, a social organisation of Kaler Kantho, has given the assistance to 11 students on behalf of the Bashundhara Group.

The students have been initially given Tk 58,000 each as expenses for medical college admission, books and one month's hostel accommodation. Besides, Bashundhara Group will provide each of them Tk 10,000 per month till the end of their studies.

The assistance was handed over to the students in the presence of their guardians and family members at the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) auditorium in Bashundhara Residential Area of the capital on Monday (April 25). 

EWMGL Director Imdadul Haq Milan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, News24 Executive Editor Rahul Raha and Secretary to the chairman of Bashundhara Group Masudur Rahman Manna attended the programme. 

The meritorious students are: Antra Khatun of Bagha Upazila, Rajshahi (MAG Osmani Medical College, Sylhet), Mst. Sabina Yasmin of Sadar Upazila, Thakurgaon (Mymensingh Medical College), Sukla Chintapatra of Chitalmari Upazila, Bagerhat (Bangabandhu Medical College, Faridpur), Sharmin Akter of Kaharol Upazila, Dinajpur (Pabna Medical College), Sadia Afrin Harisa of Banaripara Upazila, Barisal (Rajshahi Medical College), Sharmin Akter Sumi of Sadar Upazila, Joypurhat (Rangpur Medical College), Tajgir Hossain of Chauddagram upazila, Cumilla (Khulna Medical College), Imama Islam Ima of Keshabpur upazila, Jessore, (Rajshahi Medical College) Rakib Hossain of Sadar upazila, Natore (Chandpur medical college) Mst. Shabnur of Swarupkathi upazila, Pirojpur (Sheikh Hasina Medical College, Jamalpur) and Deepita Rahman of Dhanmondi, Dhaka (Bangabandhu Medical College, Faridpur).

Congratulating the students, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam said: "Everyone who is sitting here are indomitable talents. There is only one path ahead of you now - you will conquer the future and move forward. Bashundhara Group stands by you. You have to hold on to the journey of becoming the best so that you can show it to the whole of Bangladesh on a larger scale."

Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali said, "There is anxiety in any journey. But I hope you have a good future. You have to overcome all your fears and become a beautiful person. With the support of Bashundhara Group, you will get rid of anxiety. Studying with joy and courage I think you will change the country and its people."

Secretary to the chairman of Bashundhara Group Masudur Rahman Manna said: "You have come here after a long battle with life. There will be another journey in life after admission to medical college as there will be many hurdles. But never forget those who have contributed to your life, never forget the roots. As long as we remember this, we will be human. After becoming a doctor, if you keep these in mind, people will be benefited and this will be the best achievement of your life. You will do something for the people, that is our expectation."

EWMGL Director Imdadul Haq Milan said: "Under the direction of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, we have found indomitable meritorious students. Bashundhara Group will stand by them. The support we give them is a gift. We are giving this gift to them to help them reach their destination. We indeed are giving these meritorious people to the country as gifts. When they will become doctors, they will be social workers, they will work for the state. When they will work for the people, then the state and the people will be benefited."

Besides, he expressed optimism about the continuation of this support from the Bashundhara Group every year. Bashundhara Group is always by the side of any people, especially for meritorious students, he added.

On behalf of the students, Sadia Afrin Harisa said, "My father has provided my educational expenses by pulling a rickshaw. I am grateful to everyone, including my family members, for helping me. Today Bashundhara Group has helped me to keep my study continue. So, my goal is to help everyone when I grow up. At the end of my studies, I want to work as a doctor for the poor."
