DHAKA: This was not merely a matter of setting world record. This was an unforeseen show of emotion, music and love towards the motherland.

On the 43rd victory day on December 16, 2013, more than three lakhs Bengalese simultaneously sang ‘Amar Sonar Bangla/Ami Tomay Bhalobashi,’ the National Anthem of Bangladesh at 4:31pm, the moment when the occupied Pakistani Army surrendered to the joint forces in 1971.

While singing the National Anthem many people became deeply emotional.

Victory Day celebration committee-2013, Gonojagoron Moncho, Sector Commanders’ Forum, Bijoy 4:31 Moncho and Muktijuddher Chetona Bastobayon Moncho organized various programmes with the slogan of ‘Bijoyer Surjodoy, Bangladesh Biswomoy (Rising Sun of Victory, Bangladesh in the World)’.

Singing of National Anthem, written by Rabindranath Tagore, was the main attraction.

Lakhs of people also joined from their positions when the programme was telecasted live on television channels.

Before singing the National Anthem, Imran H Sarker, convener of Gonojagoron Moncho, said more than three lakhs people will simultaneously sing the National Anthem and 600 crores people of the world will know it.

Bangladeshi expatriates from various cities around the globe participated in the programme.

On May 6, 2013, 121,653 people simultaneously sang the National Anthem of India, which was the Guinness World Record so far.
