CHANDPUR: A defamation case was filed Monday against the Daily Jugantor for publishing falsified news abutting former home minister MK Alamgir and Dr Dipu Moni, former foreign minister.

Juba league leader Kazi Enamul Haque filed the defamation case of Tk 200 crore with Chandpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Asim Kumar Dey’s court.

Jugantor publisher, acting editor, news editor, Chief reporter were accused in the case.

The court directed the accused to appear before the court on March 11.

Prosecutor Advocate Helal Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said, “Jugantor published fabricated news with photographs of former home minister and foreign minister on January 13, which is utterly offensive.”
