Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said that power cuts will remain at a tolerable level this summer, with no discrimination between rural and urban areas.
Speaking at a seminar at Bidyut Bhaban in Dhaka, he acknowledged that it would not be possible to completely eliminate load-shedding but assured that necessary measures are being taken to manage the situation.
"We are currently producing 16,000MW of electricity, with 179MW lost to power cuts," he said.
"Our target is to rise generation to 18,000MW, and efforts are underway to import additional LNG and coal to meet demand while minimising the use of fuel oil," he added
