DHAKA: After the 10th national election, army personnel will also be deployed in the upazila parishad elections to ensure peaceful voting.
As striking force, army will discharge their duties for five days before and after the election day.
The first phase election will be held on February 19. The poll schedule has already declared.
The decision was taken in a meeting between Election Commission (EC) and Law enforcing agencies at conference room of EC secretariat started at 11:20am.
High-ups of law enforcement agencies including Senior Secretary of Home Ministry CQ Mostaq Ahmed, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of armed forces Lieutenant Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiqul Haque, Inspector General of Police Hasan Khandakar, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed attended the meeting.
