DHAKA: The proposal for the establishment of a ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’ at Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, has been under consideration between the authorities of Bangladesh and India.

In pursuance to this effect, the Visva-Bharati University has now identified a suitable plot of land near the Indira Gandhi Centre at Visva-Bharati and decided to allot it for construction of the ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’.

The University has requested the Government of Bangladesh to send a delegation for discussions on the design, plans and estimated cost of the project.

As of now, the ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’ is envisaged to be a two-storeyed building of 7,000 square feet area on each floor.

Once constructed, the ‘Bangladesh Bhaban’ will be the focal point for scholars involved in research and studies related to Bangladesh.
