Two women killed in Moulvibazar fire

Two women were killed in a fire incident in Moulvibazar early Sunday (December 8). 

The deceased were identified as Sheikh Meherunnesa, 65, mother of Sheikh Rumel Ahmed, vice-president of the district Jubo League, and Fulessa Begum, 60, Rumel’s aunt.

Moulvibazar Fire Service official Jishu Talukder confirmed the matter.

He said a fire service team rushed to the scene after being informed of the blaze. 

"We found Meherunnesa and Fulessa Begum unconscious due to smoke inhalation. They were taken to Moulvibazar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead," he added.

Moulvibazar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Mahbubur Rahman said a special team from Sylhet has arrived to investigate the incident.

No complaints have been filed in this regard, according to the official.
