Salman, Anisul, Palak among eight shown arrested in fresh cases

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser on private industry and investment, Salman F Rahman, and former law minister Anisul Huq, among eight persons shown arrested in four fresh cases linked to anti-discrimination protests in Dhaka.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, Nazmin Akhtar, issued the orders on Monday (Dec 23), following separate petitions by the investigation officers of the respective cases. 

The other accused are - JSD President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Workers Party President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Maj Gen (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, and former MP Sadek Khan.

Among the cases, Salman F Rahman, Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, and Abdullah Al-Mamun were shown arrested in the Jisan murder case under Jatrabari Police Station. 

Zunaid Ahmed Palak was shown arrested in a murder attempt case of student Muhammad Shamim under New Market Police Station. 

Sadek Khan and Ziaul Ahsan were shown arrested in separate cases, including the Shahriar Hossain Rokon murder case under Mohammadpur Police Station.
