To maintain peace and prevent any disturbances, the Bagerhat district administration has imposed Section 144 in Kachua upazila today (December 17), from 10 am to 6 pm.

The order, signed by Kachua Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) KM Abu Naushad, covers a 1 km area around two event venues—Goalmath Rashik Lal Secondary School and Majeda Begum Agricultural Technology University. The restriction bans all gatherings, rallies, and the carrying of firearms in these areas.

The decision comes after two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) planned separate programs in the same area. Majeda Begum Agricultural Technology College is hosting a reception for former MP MAH Selim, while the Kachua Upazila BNP is holding a rally at Goalmath Rashik Lal Secondary School.

UNO Naushad said that the events are close to each other, and the move aims to ensure public safety and avoid any incidents.
