The Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh and India kicked off in Dhaka on Monday (December 9).

According to sources, the meeting began around 11 am at the State Guest House Padma.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin are leading the FOC aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and address key issues between the two nations.

Earlier in the morning, Vikram Misri arrived in Dhaka for the high-level meeting between the two countries, marking the first of its kind since recent political changes in Bangladesh.

A special Indian Air Force flight brought Misri and other officials to Dhaka airport at around 9 am, according to diplomatic sources.

Later in the day, Misri is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna before leaving Dhaka tonight.

The discussions aim to address tensions in bilateral relations that have arisen following the ousting of the Awami League government in a mass uprising on August 5.
