At least 15 people, including two drivers, were injured after a bus and a covered van collided head-on in dense fog in Bhanga, Faridpur this morning (Feb 17).
The accident occurred around 7 am in the Chumurdi area of Bhanga upazila along the Faridpur-Barisal highway.
The bus, operated by Alif Mim Paribahan, was traveling from Magura when it crashed into the van due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog.
Following the collision, a five-kilometer traffic jam formed on both sides of the highway. Bhanga Highway Police arrived at the scene to clear the road and restore normal traffic flow.
Local resident Md. Sohag Matubbar said: “The fog was extremely dense in the morning, making it difficult to see the road, which likely caused the accident.”
Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rokibuzzaman confirmed the matter.
He said that dense fog was a contributing factor. “Our team responded immediately and restored traffic movement,” he added.
The identities of the injured were not immediately available.
