A youth was beaten to death by unknown assailants after being taken outside his home in Raujan of Chattogram on Wednesday night. 

The victim, Muhammad Hasan, 35, was a member of the local Youth League in Noyapara Union.

Hasan, the son of Mohammad Bajlul Ahmed, a driver from the Ahmed Hossain Member House, was attacked at around 10:30 PM in the Chowdhuryhat Bazar area.

According to locals, the injured Hasan was rushed to a private hospital in Noyapara Patharhat, where he was later transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Later, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Hasan’s wife, Jhinu Akhter said that a group of masked men broke into their house, held her husband at gunpoint, and forcibly took him away. She later found him in a critical condition in Ployan Para and tried to save him, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Rausha Police Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam Bhuiyan told Banglanews that a verbal complaint has been filed regarding the incident, and a police team has already launched an investigation. 

Legal actions will be taken based on the findings, he added.
