Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing near Panchagarh border

A Bangladeshi youth was killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the Suidanga area, opposite India’s Khalpara, near the Bhitargarh border in Sadar Upazila of Panchagarh district.

The deceased was identified as Al Amin, 38, son of Suruj Ali Jinnat Para area of Harivasan union under Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

Al Amin, son of Suruj Ali from Jinnat Para in Harivasan union, was fatally shot at Abalupara, about 50 yards inside India from Sub Pillar 7 of Border Pillar 744. 

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Bhitargarh Border Out Post (BOP), under the Nilphamari Battalion (BGB-56).

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoja, commander of the 56th BGB Battalion in Nilphamari, confirmed the incident and immediately held a flag meeting with the commander of the 46th BSF Battalion at the border pillar 744/7-S.

During the meeting, the BGB strongly protested the shooting and demanded the return of the deceased’s body.
