A truck driver and his assistant were killed early Tuesday (April 15) when their vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur.
The accident took place around 3:15 am in the Ghopaghap area of Bagat Union, along the Dhaka-Khulna highway, according to local authorities.
The victims were identified as Md Idris Ali, 30, the driver, and Md Haider Ali, 32, the helper—both residents of Keshabpur upazila in Jessore.
Citing fire service and eyewitness reports, officials said the truck, which was transporting watermelons from Dhaka to Jessore, lost control before slamming into a roadside tree and overturning, leaving both driver and helper dead on the spot.
Md Rashedul Alam, station officer at Madhukhali Fire Service, said the bodies were recovered shortly after the crash and handed over to the Highway Police.
Officer-in-Charge Md Salauddin Chowdhury of the Highway Police said the bodies are being kept at the Madhukhali Upazila Health Complex.
