The government has decided to increase the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 14, setting the new retail price at Tk 189 per litre. 

The price of loose soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 169 per litre, while palm oil will now cost Tk 149 per litre.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (April 15) following a meeting between edible oil traders and Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin.

During a briefing, the adviser said the price hike was necessary to increase government revenue and align with the international market.

He also noted that the decision is temporary and may be reviewed later depending on the market situation.
