Members of Police have arrested two people including former Gazipur City Corporation reserved ward councillor Taslima Nasrin during a special operation titled "Devil Hunt" in the Konabari area of Gazipur.

They were arrested on Tuesday (April 29) from their residences in the Baimail area. 

The second arrestee was identified as Nurul Islam, 50, an organisational secretary of the local Awami League ward unit.

Taslima Nasrin also serves as the general secretary of the Konabari Thana unit of the Mohila League and previously represented Wards 10, 11, and 12 as councillor.

Officer-in-Charge of Konabari Police Station Salah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter and said legal actions against them are underway.

He said that the ongoing "Devil Hunt" operation aims to detain individuals with a criminal background and bring them under the law. 

The drive will continue to ensure public safety in the area, he added.
