Two young boys drowned in a pond in Chandipur village under Yakubpur Union of Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni on Friday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Md Yasin, 7, son of Saiful Islam, and Nafis, 9, son of Nejam Uddin. Both were residents of the same village and were paternal cousins.

Jamal Uddin, uncle of the children, said family members were bathing in the pond before the Juma prayers. After the prayers, Yasin and Nafis could not be found. A search was carried out, and the children were found floating unconscious in the pond.

They were rushed to Daganbhuiyan Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead around 2:30pm.

Officer-in-Charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station Wahid Parvez confirmed the matter and said police visited the scene after receiving the report.
