The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in parts of the country over the next 120 hours, starting from 9am today.

According to a BMD bulletin, such weather may occur at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. The rest of the country is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.

Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

Meanwhile, a severe to very severe heatwave is sweeping over Chuadanga, Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, and Jashore.

Mild to moderate heat waves persist elsewhere and may continue.

Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature on Saturday at 42.0°C, while the lowest was 23.5°C in Rajarhat and Sylhet.

The sun sets today at 6:32pm and rises at 5:17am tomorrow in the capital.
