DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to do judicial investigation on Bangladesh Institute of Research & Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM) incident where a patient died.          

The court also directed to submit a report in this regard on May 28.  

Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman passed the order after hearing on two cases filed by died patient’s family and the doctors of Birdem.  

The court sent the relevant papers to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) for the next step.  

Earlier five people, including three doctors of Birdem, were sued for their alleged involvement in killing of a patient.

Victim Sirajul Islam’s daughter Farhana Nasrin, on Sunday noon, filed the lawsuit with CMM Court.                                        

Dr Azad, Dr Shamima Akhter, Dr Firoz Amin, Kallyan Devnath and Anwar Hossain were made the defendants to the case.                
 
Earlier, the authorities of Birdem filed case against at least 25 people, including ABM Masud Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Ishahaq Hossain Babu, Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) of Begum Munnujan Sufian, Farhana Nasrin, daughter of Sirajul and one Abir Hossain.
