JHALOKATI: A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member was killed and another army man injured in a road accident on Barisal-Khulna highway in Badarapur area of Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sohag Hosaain, 27, son Abdul Latif of Brosahila village of Mothbaria upazila of Pirozpur district while the injured was Sagir Hossain, 30, brother of the BGB man.

Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Halim told banglanews, a Khulna-bound passenger bus of Anamika Paribahan crushed into a motorbike in the area on the noon, leaving them critically injured.

Locals rushed them to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital at Barisal where Shoag succumbed to his injures in the evening.

The two brothers were going to Jhalokati form Pirojpur riding the motorbike.
 
Police seized the bus but the driver and his helper managed to flee the scene, the SI added.
