DHAKA: The drives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) against the vehicles with colored glasses are underway across the capital for the second consecutive day.
From Monday morning, the police sergeants were seen busy in detecting the vehicles under that category and awarding them with a healthy penalty in Maghbazar, Rampura, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, Bijoy Swarani, Gulshan, Banani, Shantinagar, Uttara, Badda, Paltan, Farmgate and other areas of the city.
At the second day of the drive, the presence of the vehicles with colored glasses was hardly seen on the city roads.
On duty traffic police sergeant of Rampura zone Enamul Haque said that the number of the vehicles under the category is very low on Monday. Moreover, any vehicles with colorful glasses will be brought under the law, he added.
Deputy Police Commissioner of Traffic East Zone Iqbal Hossain said “Traffic police sergeants were instructed by Home Affairs Ministry to conduct such drives.”
Confirming the matter, Deputy Police Commissioner of Traffic West Zone Jaydeb Bhadra said that the drives against colorful glasses are underway for the second day and necessary initiatives are being taken in this regard.
As the deadline fixed by the government to remove coloured, black and nontransparent glass separately in cars and microbuses expired on Saturday, the drive against the violators the order started on Sunday morning.
