Rana on fresh 8-day remand

NARAYANGANJ: A Narayanganj court on Sunday placed former RAB officer MM Rana on a more 8-day remand in sensational 7-murder case for police interrogation.  

District Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin passed the remand order after police produced him before the court with a 10-day fresh remand plea in the afternoon.  

On May 17 late night, detectives arrested Rana from Dhaka Cantonment area for his alleged connection with sensational 7-murder case.

Following day, a district court placed MM Rana on a 7-day remand in the same case.

Earlier, a district court placed two former RAB officers on a 5-day remand in the same case.

The High Court asked inspector general of police to take steps to arrest the tree Rab officers and hand them over to the detectives investigating in the sensational case.    

They--Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander SM Masud Rana--were removed from RAB-11 on April 29 and forced into retirement on May 6.     

On April 30, seven bodies, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four aides and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River.

They were kidnapped from Dhaka-Narayanganj link road on April 27.
