DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee’s special meeting is underway on Thursday night at party chairperson’s Gulshan office for the stocktaking of country’s latest political situation that saw some major developments.

Khandaker Delwar Hossain, Dr. RA Gani, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeswar Chandra Roy, Dr. Moyeen Khan, Shamsul Islam, Mahbubur Rahman and Sarwari Rahman are in the meeting that started at 8:05pm.  

One of BNP top leaders told banglanews24.com.bd that the meeting would discuss some burning issues, including the arrest of top leaders of BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami during and after the June 27 hartal.

Party chairperson Khaleda Zia is presiding over the urgent meeting of the BNP policymaking body.

Sources said the meeting convened to chalk out next course of action as opposition leaders are being “repressed through attacking, arresting and suing them serially”.
