BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital early Sunday (March 31) as her health condition deteriorated.

Khaleda Zia's press wing officer Shamsuddin Didar confirmed the matter.

According to him, as she suddenly fell ill, members of the Medical Board went to her residence in Gulshan last night. Later it was decided to take Khaleda Zia to the hospital for examination on the advice of the medical board, he added. 

Later, she was taken to Evercare Hospital for some urgent health tests and treatment and admitted to its Coronary Care Unit (CCU) around 3:30 pm, Shamsuddin Didar said.

The BNP chief was admitted to Evercare Hospital on March 13. She returned to her Gulshan residence the next day after undergoing a health check-up.

The 79-year-old Khaleda Zia has long been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and issues related to kidneys, lungs, heart, and eyes.
