DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami felled sick at least twice during the interrogation session Sunday night.

The interrogation started at 8pm at the metropolitan detective branch office where Nizami suffered illness twice within the next three hours.

Intelligence sources said banglanews24.com.bd “The interrogation process had been halted for 30 minutes, as Nizami became sick due to high blood pressure.”

Police interrogating Nizami against the case no. 37 under Paltan thana.  Mujahid and Sayeedi, another two cream of the crops of Jamaat, was interrogated under the same case before.

SI Jillur Rahman, the case investigation officer (IO) under Paltan thana told that Nizami was sent to detective branch (south) lock-up at 11pm following his sickness repeatedly.

Police has taken him under three days remand, of which the first day passed in said manner.
 
The investigation officer said the top three Jamaat leaders were brought under interrogation against a case for attacking on President’s motorcade on February 12 near Paltan traffic signal. To obey the order from the top leaders, the Jamaat-Shibir activists also assaulted on police, as the law enforcers tried to resist them. Some 16 cops received injury at that time.

Police assumes that the top towering Jamaat leaders were responsible for the incident, as they ordered their activists to do so.

“According to the information we have, Jaamat-Shibir was trying to create an unrest situation across the country at that time by producing hue and cry,” detective sources claimed.

“In their first phase of interrogation, Mozahid and Sayedee have admitted that, no demonstration under Jamaat is carried unless ordered from the central command,” the source said.

Intelligence source said Mozahid also admitted that Jaamat always feels reluctant to create any unrest in the country, as there are many militant organizations across the country to execute such actions. But Nizami kept mum while asked to reveal the whereabouts of those outlawed groups and the relation of Jamaat with them.

Prior to Nizamis interrogation started, Sayedee and Mojahid were cross-examined in DB (South) office sitting them side-by-side.

Later, Mojahid was kept in DB (North) lock-up and Delwar Hossain Sayedee in Ramna thana women’s lock-up.
