Former independent lawmaker for Narsigdi-3 constituency Shirajul Islam Mollah was arrested on Monday (Nov 11) evening from Mohammadpur in the capital.

Police said students detained Sirajul and informed the army and they took him into their custody.

Being informed, police took him to Mohammadpur Police Station.

A total of two cases were filed against Sirajul Islam in Narayanganj's Araihazar and Fatullah police stations.

Fatullah police have been informed that the former MP will be handed over to them.

Shirajul went into hiding after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 amid a student-led mass uprising.
