DHAKA: The opposition BNP will bring out a mass procession in the capital on Monday as part of its ongoing anti-government movement.

Party chairperson and opposition leader Khaleda Zia will lead the march that will start from the historic Paltan ground that was made off-limits to them for staging a set mass hunger strike on July 25.

In a drum-up move, leaders and activists of the BNP carried out mass contact and leaflet distribution at 26 points in the city.

BNP said it will go for demonstrations in the capital protesting government “misrule” and “repression” on opposition leaders and journalists.

Senior leaders including Nazrul Islam Khan on Sunday visited the Paltan ground.

The procession is to protest “terrorism, tender-manipulation, grabbing and admission trade” allegedly by Chhatra League activists, price hike before Ramadan, preventing hunger strike, Prime Minister’s comment against Khaleda Zia, and the filing of ‘false cases’ against the party leaders.
