DHAKA: Police detained five leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami from city’s Banashri area on Saturday afternoon.

The detainees were identified as Giasuddin, Aminur Rahman, Abul Hashem, Sohel and Osman Gani.

Moreover, materials for creating violence and over Tk1-crore were seized from their possession.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy-commissioner (Motijheel Division) Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

‘On a tip-off, police conducted the drive and detained the five Jamaat leaders,’ he added.
