A delegation from the US-based Carter Center met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the party chairperson's Gulshan office on Friday morning.
The hour-long meeting focused on Bangladesh’s political and economic situation, the restoration of democracy, and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
BNP leader Abdul Moyeen Khan said discussions included the Carter Center’s interest in observing the next election and the feasibility of such a mission.
The six-member team was led by Jonathan Stonestreet, Senior Associate Director of the Center’s Democracy Program.
