SATKHIRA: Police detained two people in connection with the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Satkhira unit leader Hasibul Islam Emon on Tuesday noon (January 17).

The detainees are Murad and Biplob, hail from the same area of the district. 

Earlier around 11:00am Tuesday, police acting on information recovered the body from a swamp in Amtola area of sadar upazila.

Deceased Emon, 25, son of Sheikh Liton Hasan hailed from Satkhira city’s Sultanpur area, was a joint secretary of BCL Satkhira district unit and a final-year student of Khulna Commerce College. 

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, district sadar thana sub-inspector (SI) Humayun Kabir said, at initial interrogation, the detainees confessed that Emon owe them taka 1.5 lakh. 

Moreover, Emon’s father said to journalists that though the body was found in the morning, Emon was at home last night.
