GAIBANDHA: Police on Monday morning (January 23) detained a counselor of local union parishad on suspicion of his involvement with the murder of Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton.

The detainee was identified as Rezaul Islam alias Dish Liton, 36, a counselor of Ward No. 6 of Sarbananda union parishad.

Sundarganj police officer-in-charge (OC) Atiar Rahman told Banglanews that they detained Rezaul from Dhopadanga village of Sundarganj upazila in the morning.

Police will also seek remand of Rezaul from the court, he added.
