JHENAIDAH: District police detective branch (DB) on Thursday morning (February 02) arrested a local municipality councilor with a number of weapons and 500 pieces of yaba tablets.

The detainee Rezaul Islam, a councilor of Kotchandpur municipality, hails from Adarshapara area of the city.

Jhenaidah DB police officer-in-charge (OC) Daud Hussain told Banglanews that on information, a team of DB police arrested Rezaul Islam with a foreign pistol, four rounds of bullets, magazine and 500 pieces of Yaba from sugarcane Center area at Kotchandpur of the district.

The arrestee was also accused in several cases, he added.
