DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said his party did not compromise with the ideology of Hefajat-e-Islam.
He made the remark at press briefing in city’s Dhanmodi office of AL president Sheikh Hasina on Thursday morning (April 13).
Quader said "We did not compromise with Hefajat-e-Islam. They are not a priority to us. The main issue is that government gave recognition to the higher education of Qawmi Madrasas. It is a reality of our country and the notion of forging alliance with Hefajat is ridiculous.”
He also said, off the politicians, true progressives are those who have the ability to take practical decision considering the sentiment of the common people. AL does not do politics using religious ideology.
