JHENAIDAH: The local administration has imposed ‘Section 144’ in Jhenaidah sadar for dawn-to-dusk on Saturday (May 27) after two rival groups of the Awami League called a meeting at a same venue.

Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Jhenaidah sadar Mostafizur Rahman told Banglanews that they imposed the ‘Section 144’ to avert untoward incident.

Former chairman of Padmakar UP Bikash Biswas called a meeting on the premises of Maulanabad High School. Later, convener of the union Juba League Faruk Ahmed also called a meeting in the same venue and same time.

“The upazila administration imposed the Section 144 as law and order situation has been deteriorated due call of the meeting by two groups,” said the UNO.
