DHAKA: The budget session for this year, which is also the 16th session of the 10th Parliament, began at about 11:00 am on Tuesday (May 30) with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the budget proposal for 2017-2018 fiscal in the Parliament at 1:30 pm on Thursday (June 1), says a press release of the finance ministry.

The finance minister will speak in the post-budget press conference at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the city at 3:00 pm on Friday (June 2).  

The budget size for the upcoming fiscal year will be estimated over Tk 400,000 crore with a target of 7.4 percent GDP growth.

This will be the country's 46th budget and the 18th of the Awami League government, while the 11th for Muhith.
