GAZIPUR: The son of a former BNP MP was shot to death at Bhatgachhi area under Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur on Sunday night (July 30).

The deceased, Foysal, 30, is younger son of former BNP MP Mokhlesur Rahman Jitu.

Locals said that a group of miscreants opened fire on Faisal around 9:30 pm, leaving him injured critically. The miscreants fled from the scene.

Foysal was rescued by the locals and was taken to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. The on duty doctors of the hospital declared him dead.

The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Kaliganj circle Pankaj Dattya said that they are conducting raid in different places to detain the killers.
