DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said no polls will be held under Sheikh Hasina government and reiterated her party’s demand for army deployment and poll-time neutral government.
She made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at the BNP rally held in Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Sunday (Nov 12) marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Khaleda said, “There will not be any election under the Hasina government as they will rig the election. A free and fair poll is only possible under a poll-time neutral government.”
She also demanded for army deployment at the poll centers so that people can cast their votes without any influence and fear.
Mentioning the Election Commission, she said, “We are telling you not to heed unfair proposals. A fair poll must require no EVM (Electronic Voting Machines) and neutral government.”
Referring to the Chief Justice SK Sinha, Khaleda said, “If someone disagrees with the government, he will be forced to leave the country as it happened with CJ Sinha. The government not only exiled him but also forced him to resign because he disclosed government’s plan to grip the judiciary.”

Earlier around 2:00pm Khaleda starts for Suhrawardy Udyan from her Gulshan residence. She reached the rally around 3:20pm.
Thousands of people, including party leaders, activists and supporters, gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan from Sunday morning to attend the rally.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun its rally formally in city’s Suhrawardy Udyan with recitation from the Holy Quran.
The rally started around 1:45pm on Sunday (November 12).
Party’s metropolitan and central level leaders are seen delivering speech at the rally chaired by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. BNP publicity editor Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie is moderating the program.
Leaders and activists are now thronging the rally from different wards of the city. Speeches, made by BNP leaders, are being met with constant clapping, slogans, and support.
